French Toast Dippers

This easy recipe for french toast dippers tastes just like the frozen french toast sticks you used to eat as a kid! Serve them for a fun finger food breakfast with maple syrup for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz brioche
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Maple syrup for dipping

Instructions

  • First, slice the brioche into sticks, about a half-inch thick by one inch wide and set aside.
  • Next, prepare the egg wash. Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a shallow dish until combined.
  • Melt butter on a griddle over medium heat. Gently coat all sides of the brioche sticks in the egg wash, working a few at a time, and transfer to the griddle. Cook until the bottoms are lightly browned, about 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and cook until the bottoms are browned again, about 3 to 4 more minutes. Work in batches as needed.
  • Serve immediately with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

Slicing the brioche: Use a long, sharp chef's knife like this one to easily make clean cuts and avoid tearing the bread.
Variations: Use your favorite flavorings, toppings, and dips to customize these french toast dippers! You can add vanilla extract to the egg wash, brush the cooked french toast sticks in melted butter and toss them in cinnamon sugar, or serve them with powdered sugar, whipped cream, Nutella, and more.
