Our flavorful maple bourbon burger takes "breakfast for dinner" to a whole new level with a waffle bun, homemade honey butter, maple bourbon syrup, and crispy maple bacon.
Begin by preparing the Honey Butter and Maple Bourbon Syrup.*
Fry the maple bourbon bacon in a skillet over high heat until crispy, turning over during cooking as needed. Transfer to a paper-towel lined dish to drain and set aside.
Prepare and grill the burger patties according to your preferred method, until desired doneness.*
While the burgers are cooking, toast Eggo waffles until golden brown and lightly crisped.
Butter one side of each Eggo waffle with the Honey Butter.
Transfer cooked patties to toasted Eggos. Top each burger with 2 slices of maple bourbon bacon and drizzle a spoonful of Maple Bourbon Syrup over them. Place the Eggo waffles butter side-down to close the burgers.
Serve with your favorite side, a cold beer, and enjoy!*
Honey Butter
Combine softened butter and honey in a small bowl and stir well until fully mixed.
Refrigerate until ready to use.
Maple Bourbon Syrup
Add maple syrup, butter, and maple bourbon to a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Transfer to a bowl and let cool slightly before using.
Notes
Classic Burger Patties: This is our original burger recipe and it’s delicious! But we totally get it if you have a different favorite burger or want to use a premade or frozen patty instead.Maple bourbon bacon: We happened to find this maple bourbon bacon at Whole Foods while grocery shopping and knew it was perfect for this burger - but if you can't find a maple bourbon bacon, a maple bacon will do just fine!Honey Butter and Maple Bourbon Syrup: You'll wind up with a bit extra of both of these ingredients. If you have a small enough saucepan, you could halve the Maple Bourbon Syrup - but we suggest making all of it and enjoying the leftovers with pancakes or french toast later on :D (it also makes a great dipping sauce for tater tots!)Grilling the patties: You can find directions for different methods of cooking our Classic Burger Patty here.Serving suggestions: No burger is complete without a side of fried potatoes... and what could be better than some delicious tater tots with this breakfast-themed burger? We served ours with these Alexia Potato Puffs.
