Prepare the toppings - slicethe fresh mozzarella, slice the vine tomato, and mash the avocado - and set aside.
Grill Classic Burger Patties until desired doneness, topping each with a slice of mozzarella cheese right after the burgers are flipped for maximum melting time.
While the burgers are cooking, spread an even layer of mashed avocado on the bottom halves of the burger buns.
Transfer cooked patties to buns, placing them on top of the mashed avocado. Top each burger with a slice of tomato and then close the buns.
Serve with your favorite side, a cold lager, and enjoy!
Notes
Classic Burger Patties: This is our original recipe for delicious homemade burger patties. But we totally get it if you want to use frozen or pre-made patties to make this dish a little easier!Melting the cheese: To get extra melty cheese on your burgers, try covering the pan with a lid! (If you're grilling on the stove like we do).Serving suggestions: This "healthy" burger pairs well with a side of sweet potato tots (or sweet potato fries) and a crisp, light beer.
