Avocado Cilantro Lime Crema

This zesty avocado cilantro lime crema instantly brightens up any dish with its citrusy flavor and creamy texture.

  • 1 medium avocado
  • ½ bunch fresh cilantro chopped
  • 2 tbsp sour cream or plain greek yogurt
  • 2 to 3 medium limes juiced
  • Sea salt to taste

Instructions

  • Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender. Add the cilantro, sour cream, lime juice*, and salt.
  • Blend on medium speed until smooth, about 1 minute, adding more lime juice if necessary.
  • Transfer crema to a small bowl or jar. Use immediately or cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

Lime juice: You can play around with the amount of lime juice in this crema to find your preferred balance of flavor and texture. Start with a little lime juice, then taste test as you go and add a little more at a time to achieve the desired consistency.
Serving suggestions: This recipe makes a good amount of crema and there are plenty of ways to use it! Try it on carne asada tacos, grilled chicken, or in a burrito bowl.
Refrigerating: If you're making this crema for a recipe like our avocado chicken, you can prepare it ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
