- 1 medium avocado
- ½ bunch fresh cilantro chopped
- 2 tbsp sour cream or plain greek yogurt
- 2 to 3 medium limes juiced
- Sea salt to taste
Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender. Add the cilantro, sour cream, lime juice*, and salt.
Blend on medium speed until smooth, about 1 minute, adding more lime juice if necessary.
Transfer crema to a small bowl or jar. Use immediately or cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Lime juice: You can play around with the amount of lime juice in this crema to find your preferred balance of flavor and texture. Start with a little lime juice, then taste test as you go and add a little more at a time to achieve the desired consistency.
Serving suggestions: This recipe makes a good amount of crema and there are plenty of ways to use it! Try it on carne asada tacos, grilled chicken, or in a burrito bowl.
