A customized southwest veggie pizza that takes everything about a traditional veggie pizza and throws it out the window to create a much improved, hearty, and super satisfying vegetarian pizza that everyone will love. All in less than 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 525 degrees F and and lightly grease and flour a 14-inch pizza pan.
Lightly dust your hands with flour and carefully stretch the pizza dough to fit the pan.
Top it with sauce, cheese, peppers, onions, and finally, the black bean corn salsa.
Bake until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden-brown, about 10 to 12 minutes.
Slice the pizza then top it with sliced avocado and fresh cilantro. Serve hot.
Notes
Shredded cheese - We always find it worth our time to freshly shred cheese from a block so that it melts better. Pre-shredded cheese comes coated in an anti-caking agent which keeps it from melting as nicely. We’ll trade a couple minutes of our time to avoid the additives. Slicing the avocado - Cut the avocado into quarters lengthwise. Then peel off the peel by hand – it should come off easily. From there it is easy to slice each quarter into 4 or 5 slices (again, lengthwise) for topping the pizza. This is how we slice our avocados for bowls or other recipes where we care about the presentation. Baking time and temp - Baking pizza is all about the dough since it’s the only thing that needs to actually cook. So if you’re making dough from scratch, or your store-bought dough comes with baking instructions, it’s best to follow your recipe. If for some reason you don’t have time and temp directions, we like to bake our pizzas at 525 degrees F for about 10 to 14 minutes (depending on sauce and toppings). Just keep an eye on it as cook time will vary by the dough and the moisture level of the toppings.
