What is MasterClass?
MasterClass is your key to becoming a better cook – and learning tons of other great skills along the way!
We first began using MasterClass shortly after starting The Candid Cooks, because we knew we needed to learn from the pros if we wanted to level up our cooking and recipe development skills.
After watching just a few lessons, we were hooked! Learning bite sized pieces of information in 10 minute videos was both enlightening and entertaining. Not only were we able to fit lessons into our busy schedule, but we also found that we were more excited to learn than ever.
Benefits
What makes MasterClass so special? Here are just a few of the reasons why we love it so much:
- Access to 180+ instructors – Where else can you learn from the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Jane Goodall, and RuPaul, all in one platform? MasterClass connects you with the best of the best in an intimate video lesson setting where you get to know your instructor before learning their expertise.
- Bite size lessons – Each video lesson is around 10 minutes, so you can easily fit learning into your busy schedule.
- Variety of content – Food is just one of the many categories available on MasterClass! You can learn everything from dog training to interior design. If you love to learn, you’ll find plenty of exciting classes to take advantage of.
- Mobile, desktop, and TV – Watch wherever is most convenient for you! We like to put cooking lessons on the TV when we’re learning together, while mobile is perfect for individual lessons on the go.
Our Takeaway
MasterClass has been an invaluable resource for us – especially when it comes to cooking! As two self taught home chefs, we credit a ton of our knowledge to the classes we’ve watched from renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Thomas Keller, and Alice Waters.
Here’s just a sampling of the critical skills we’ve learned so far:
- Alice Waters taught us the value of cooking with fresh, local ingredients
- Roy Choi taught us how to cook more intuitively, which has made a huge difference in how we develop recipes
- Massimo Bottura taught us to taste as we go, and to not be afraid to riff on classic dishes
- Gordon Ramsay taught us basics like knife skills and how to treat ingredients with respect
And we’re not done yet! We’ve had our MasterClass subscription since 2022 and there’s no shortage of content we haven’t watched yet.
If you’re looking to level up your cooking skills, we definitely recommend signing up for a MasterClass plan here.
