4 layer Mexican dip.

How To Make 4 Layer Mexican Dip

You can make our layered Mexican dip recipe with just 4 simple store-bought ingredients:

  • Cream cheese – Get this out ahead of time so it can soften, making it far easier to spread.
  • Hormel No-Bean Chili – Basically a super saucy ground beef which creates a taco-like flavor! (Which is also why our friends have always called this “taco dip”)
  • Shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Jalapenos – If you don’t like spice, you can leave off the jalapenos… but then it’s just a 3 layer dip 🙁

This layered Mexican dip is one of the simplest party appetizers you can make, here’s all you need to know:

  1. Layer 1 – Spread softened cream cheese into an even layer on the bottom of a baking dish.
  2. Layer 2 – Add the no-bean chili. Spread this out into an even layer as well.
  3. Layer 3 – Sprinkle evenly with shredded cheese.
  4. Layer 4 – Top with your sliced jalapenos.
  5. Bake until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve hot with tortilla chips and try not to burn your mouth.

That’s it! It takes less than 5 minutes to assemble this layered dip, and the rest is hands-off cooking in the oven. That means you can throw this dip together just before your guests arrive, and then get to enjoy the party while it bakes.

Make Ahead Instructions

If you want, you can even make this dip ahead of time to prepare for a party or bring to a potluck. Here’s how:

  1. Assemble the dip as normal.
  2. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate until it’s time to heat it up.
  3. Bake, covered, for about 30 minutes to warm everything through.
  4. Remove the foil and bake, uncovered, for about 10 more minutes to let the cheese get extra bubbly.

We recommend making this the same day you plan to serve it so it’s fresh and the layers are well defined.
