With colder weather setting in, we’ve been craving more fusion comfort food mashups lately. So we took our two favorite kinds of takeout – Indian and pizza – and combined them into this delicious butter chicken pizza!
It’s the best of both worlds. Saucy, cheesy, a little spicy, and so comforting. Sort of like digging into your favorite butter chicken with some cheesy naan, but with a takeout pizza style twist.
What This Recipe Entails
Leftover butter chicken provides the sauce and toppings for this recipe! Other than that you just need the pizza basics, dough and cheese.
- Ready in: 25 minutes
- Serves: 2 people
- Great for: A fun, fusion date night or easy weeknight dinner
- Flavor profile: Spicy, savory, and bold. Think butter chicken and cheesy naan!
- Why we love it: Fusion pizzas are just so fun. This is a great way to combine a saucy, flavorful dinner (butter chicken) with one of our favorite comfort foods (pizza)!

Ingredients
- Pizza dough – We’ll always root for making your own pizza dough, but we know that isn’t always possible. Although it is surprisingly easy! Just check out one of our favorite cookbooks, Flour Water Salt Yeast or Mastering Pizza for a recipe. Otherwise there are some pretty good store-bought pizza doughs, we’d recommend going for something local if possible.
- Butter chicken – Make this recipe super simple with leftover butter chicken (whether from takeout or homemade). If you’re really craving this recipe though, you can easily make a fresh batch of our spicy butter chicken recipe too.
- Mozzarella cheese – Mozzarella is the classic pizza cheese for a reason. It’s basic enough to blend really well with the butter chicken without sacrificing any of that cheesy pizza feeling.
- Yogurt sauce for drizzling – A combination of Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and sea salt makes for a fresh, bright drizzling sauce that completes the pizza.
- Chives (optional garnish) – We love the addition of a little fresh herb to this pizza. The chives add a slight onion flavor that helps tie everything together. Kinda like a cilantro garnish on butter chicken.
How To Make Butter Chicken Pizza
- Make the butter chicken if needed – We recommend using leftovers for this recipe, but if you want to make some butter chicken fresh, do that before anything else.
- Stretch the dough – Stretch out the dough to fit your pan. We like using a 14-inch round pizza pan.
- Assemble the pizza – Top the dough with the butter chicken sauce, then top it with mozzarella cheese. Next, add on the butter chicken with a slotted spoon, the goal is to not get too much sauce with the chicken here.
- Bake – Bake at 525 F until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melty, about 12 to 15 minutes.
- Final toppings – Finish the pizza with a drizzle of the yogurt sauce and a sprinkling of chopped chives.

Ingredients
- 425 grams pizza dough
- ½ cup butter chicken sauce leftovers or premade
- 6 ounces mozzarella cheese shredded
- 6 ounces butter chicken leftovers or premade
- 1 to 2 teaspoons chives sliced
Yogurt Sauce
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 to 2 pinches sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 525 degrees F.Lightly flour a 14-inch round pizza pan and your hands. Stretch the pizza dough out into a circle to fit the pan.
- Top the dough with butter chicken sauce, leaving about a quarter-inch crust around the edges. Then top with the shredded mozzarella and butter chicken. Use a slotted spoon for the chicken so that you don't add too much extra sauce on top of the pizza.
- Bake the pizza until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly, about 12 to 15 minutes.
- In the meantime, mix together the yogurt sauce. Combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl and stir well until thoroughly mixed. Set aside in the fridge.
- Finally, when the pizza is done, top with a drizzle of yogurt sauce and garnish with chives. Serve hot.

This is such a great way to use leftover butter chicken!! I love the extra creaminess from the yogurt drizzle. Definitely going to make this whenever I’m craving Indian fusion again.
