A limoncello spritz is the perfect summer cocktail! This sweeter alternative to an Aperol spritz is refreshing, light, and bubbly.
What This Recipe Entails
Our limoncello spritz recipe is made with equal parts limoncello, prosecco, and club soda. It’ll only take you a few minutes to whip one up, and you don’t need any fancy equipment! Just a wine glass, bar spoon, and jigger or shot glass.
- Prep time: 3 to 5 minutes
Limoncello Spritz Ingredients
You only need 3 to 4 ingredients to make a limoncello spritz at home, plus ice:
- Limoncello
- Prosecco
- Club soda
- Lemon wheel (optional garnish)
Since this cocktail doesn’t feature any additional flavors, the limoncello is bold and straightforward. This means you’ll want to choose a high quality limoncello that’s flavorful and smooth, but not overly sweet.
Additionally, a mid-range prosecco works best for a spritz since you’ll notice the flavor of it, too. Don’t splurge on one that’s too expensive since you’re mixing it with other ingredients, but don’t cheap out, either! You’ll notice a difference.
How To Make A Limoncello Spritz
Equipment: Jigger or shot glass, bar spoon, and a large wine glass
Making a spritz at home is a simple process. Here’s how to make our limoncello spritz recipe:
- First, fill a wine glass with large ice cubes.
- Then, pour the limoncello into the glass. Stir gently a few times to chill the glass.
- Next, pour in the prosecco and club soda. Aim to avoid pouring these ingredients directly over the ice, as this will make the carbonation disappear faster.
- Finally, give your spritz a quick stir (about one and a half turns) and garnish with a lemon wheel. Serve immediately.
You can also serve a spritz in a champagne flute or Collins glass. The key is to use a glass with a narrow opening at the top, which helps trap the bubbles and keep your spritz fizzy.
We like to make our limoncello spritz with a classic ratio of equal parts, but feel free to experiment with this! Some people use more prosecco or club soda to top off the drink and add more bubbles. It’s really up to personal preference.
When To Make A Limoncello Spritz
A limoncello spritz is a fun summer cocktail that’s perfect for happy hour or after dinner! It’s sweet, bubbly, and refreshing – almost like an adult sparkling lemonade.
Since you only use a few ounces of prosecco per drink, we recommend enjoying a few of these cocktails with friends and family. When served at a party, you can easily use up a bottle of prosecco and make sure none of it goes to waste!
