Spring is in the air, which means that here in Southern California, it’s beginning to feel a lot like… summer! In our excitement for warm, sunny days and cool summer nights, we decided to turn a summertime classic into a deliciously decadent, apartment-friendly snack: S’mores Dip. Keep reading to learn how to make our s’mores dip for a tasty treat!

We’ve seen simple s’mores dip recipes where you melt some chocolate and marshmallows together in the oven. But we wanted to put our own spin on this dessert dip to really recreate all the best parts of a classic campfire s’more. A good s’more is toasty, gooey, sugary, and most of all, messy. So what would be our secret ingredient to capturing all of this in a dip?

Marshmallow fluff.

Fluff and I go way back, to the days when my mom would pack me fluffernutter sandwiches for school lunches. It’s super sweet and definitely more of a once-in-a-while treat nowadays, but I still believe fluff can make anything taste better. And in this case, it was an obvious ingredient that we felt needed a chance to shine alongside some melted chocolate. Why should regular marshmallows get all the love?

Our S’mores Dip comes together in about 15 minutes with just four simple ingredients:
  1. Milk chocolate chips. We melted down half a bag of our trusty Nestle Toll House Milk Chocolate Chips for a super sweet and decadent base.
  2. Milk. We wanted our dip to feel like a dip, not like a bowl of melted chocolate (although that doesn’t sound too bad). So we added just a little bit of milk to our chocolate to adjust the consistency.
  3. Marshmallow fluff. An essential ingredient, in our opinion! Just a dollop of marshmallow fluff incorporated with the melted chocolate and milk gives this dip some extra s’mores flavor and plenty of gooeyness.
  4. Mini marshmallows. You can’t have s’mores without the marshmallows, and the fluff (sadly) isn’t going to cut it on its own. After transferring our melted chocolate base to an oven-safe dish, we added a layer of mini marshmallows to finish off the dip. With just a few minutes under the broiler, the marshmallows toasted to a perfect golden-brown hue – almost like they were fresh off the campfire!

S’mores Dip

Inspired by classic campfire s'mores, this decadent four-ingredient dip makes for a perfect late-night snack served with graham crackers and pretzels.
Servings 4 servings
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 11.5 oz Nestle Toll House Milk Chocolate Chips (half bag)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 4 tsp marshmallow fluff
  • Mini marshmallows for topping
  • Dipping options: graham crackers, pretzels, marshmallows, fresh strawberries

Instructions

  • Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler, stirring frequently.*
  • Once the chocolate is fully melted, incorporate the milk while stirring constantly.
  • Add marshmallow fluff and stir to combine, allowing the fluff to melt and fully incorporate.
  • Transfer the dip base to an oven-safe dish. Top with a layer of mini marshmallows.
  • Broil on low until marshmallows are toasted to a golden-brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Serve with graham crackers, pretzels, marshmallows, and fresh strawberries for dipping!

Notes

Double boiler: To make a double boiler, fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and place a large glass bowl on top of the saucepan so that it sits above the water (but isn’t touching). Bring the water to a simmer to melt the chocolate.
