What’s Been Cooking: August 2026

Summer isn’t over just yet! As much as we’re excited for soup season and football to be back soon, we’ve been doing all we can to soak up the last bits of summer this August.
🍅 Tomatoes Galore
Our garden has been exploding with cherry tomatoes the past few weeks (and our habanero plant has tons of peppers that we can’t wait to harvest once they turn orange!). Which has meant lots of summer tomato recipes in our dinner rotation, including baked bruschetta dip, roasted garlic bruschetta, and burrata pasta with burst tomatoes.
It’s also been a great excuse to film some of our favorite summer recipes! Our baked bruschetta dip actually went viral on TikTok 👀 have you tried it yet?

🎥 Video Mode: Activated
Speaking of filming, we’ve been hard at work cooking up some of our most popular recipes to share across our socials. We’re also gearing up for another exciting NFL season and planning to share how-to videos for all our best game day snacks every Sunday!
Even though it means dedicating extra time to the camera before we get to dig in, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

🧀 Pizza-Inspired Happy Hour
If you know us, you know how much we love pizza. And how much we love cheese nights.
Which is why we were so excited when our friends at Murray’s Cheese released a brick oven pizza-inspired cheese!
They sent us some to try out, along with garlic basil crackers and a habanero hot honey. We picked up local pepperoni from Vermont Smoke & Cure to go with it and made ourselves a pepperoni hot honey pizza inspired cheese board for an at-home happy hour.
Complete with two glasses of red wine and our favorite vinyl playing in the background, it was delicious. And probably the most fun (and unique) cheese night we’ve had! Layering the crackers, cheese, pepperoni, and hot honey together gave us gourmet pizza flavor in charcuterie form – aka, perfection.
If you’re curious about the brick oven pizza cheese, you can check it out here on Murray’s website. We’d totally buy this for a dinner party or holiday hosting, because it looks just as beautiful as it tastes!

🌀 Air Fryer Testing
Cosori recently sent us their new Iconic stainless steel air fryer to try out, and we’re having so much fun testing recipes in it! We’ll have an official product review posted soon – but we have to say we’re quite impressed with it overall.
The biggest upgrades from our old air fryer? It’s about the same footprint, but more than double the capacity and half as loud. Huge wins, especially in a small kitchen!
If you’re in the market for an air fryer, be on the lookout for our detailed review to go live in a few days.

🌲 See You Later, Vermont
We’re moving to PA in September! Which means saying “see you later” (never goodbye) to Vermont and getting in our last bits of local fun.
We made sure to visit all our favorite breweries again this month, and take a trip to western MA where we got married for our wedding venue’s summer cocktail series event. We’ve been eating out (and drinking) more than usual lately, but it’s been helpful as we’ve been busy starting to pack!
Our last summer in Vermont wouldn’t be complete without some truly local activities, so we also caught a Lake Monsters baseball game, visited the Ben & Jerry’s factory for a tour and an ice cream cone, and stopped by the Cabot store for free cheese samples and Vermont merch.
We also went to the Champlain Valley Fair for some maple donuts, baby animals, and our first ever monster truck rally (which was honestly quite fun!). It’s a Vermont tradition we’ve enjoyed over the last few years and feels like the perfect way to cap off our time here.
While we’ll definitely miss all the local cheese and maple syrup, we’re excited to explore the food scene in our new home. We’ll be back next month with an update after we’re settled in!
