Enjoy this decadent burger for Sunday brunch, lunch, dinner, or any meal in between! Featuring mashed avocado, a fried egg, bacon, and hash browns.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but one of my favorite brunch foods is a good breakfast style burger. Pair that with some crispy fried potatoes and you have the cure to any late night out. Any combination of your favorite brunch foods makes for great brunch burger toppings. That being said, this is our take on the perfect brunch burger recipe.
What This Recipe Entails
Preparing these brunch burgers is easy, however there are a lot of toppings to make. You can either save time by making them all at once, or make cooking easier by making them one at a time.
- Prep time: 20 minutes
- Cook time: 20 minutes
Alternatively, using store bought ingredients can help make this easier. Instead of making your own burger patties or hash browns, you can buy pre-made toppings. You can also use leftover bacon or hash browns from a previous breakfast.
Brunch Burger Ingredients
We wanted to pile this brunch burger high with all the best breakfast and brunch foods. So we took everything from a classic egg, potato, and bacon breakfast, and made it into a burger. Here’s everything you’ll need:
- English muffin
- Classic burger patty
- Sliced cheddar cheese
- Avocado
- Fried egg
- Bacon
- Hash browns
- Chipotle mayo
We recommend making hash browns from scratch because they are fun to make and turn out way better this way. However you can always use store bought hash browns instead to make this recipe easier. If you do decide you make your own hash browns, here’s what you’ll need:
- Russet potatoes
- Vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper

How To Make A Brunch Burger
Just like any specialty burger, there’s no reason to get complicated here. Take your time prepping your toppings, and then assemble your burger! Here’s the steps we take to help make timing work out the best:
- Begin by preparing the hash browns. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add grated potato and season with salt & pepper. Fry for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until crisped. Transfer to a paper-towel lined dish to drain.
- Prepare the burger patties, topping with cheddar cheese about halfway through cooking.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the English muffins and prepare the fried eggs.
- Once all the components are ready, assemble the brunch burgers! Spread mashed avocado on the bottom half of each English muffin, place burger patties on top, then top each with a fried egg, 2 strips of bacon, a scoop of hash browns, and a drizzle of hot sauce or chipotle mayo if desired. Top with English muffin tops and serve with a cold beer, a side, and enjoy!
Heads up: This is a very involved meal. Unless you have a variety of leftovers, there are a lot of things to make. But that’s part of the fun here! As most of the ingredients and toppings are simple to make, the challenge comes from the number of things needed to be done. However this allows you to focus on enjoying the process. No critical thinking. No hard decisions. Just simple fun cooking.

Tips For The Best Brunch Burger
Here are some tips and tricks for how to make the perfect brunch burger:
- For the perfect hash browns, grate your potato, don’t cut it! Fun, fast, and effective!
- Mashing the avocado and spreading it on the bottom bun helps to keep everything from getting too messy. Put it on top of the patty with everything else, and it’ll quickly all slide off.
- Extra toasty english muffins stand up better against the juicy burgers that we make.
- If you don’t like eggs with runny yolks, smash the yolk when you are frying it to ensure everything is fully cooked, but still have a properly made egg.
- A chipotle mayo or the like isn’t necessary, but some heat or smokiness really adds a fun pop to this burger.

This burger is really fun to make. There are so many different toppings so it takes a little while, but I enjoy making each part and watching it all come together.
