Hot chocolate dip with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.

Dessert dips are our new favorite treat, especially for the holiday season. Made with cream cheese, hot chocolate mix, and marshmallow fluff, this hot chocolate dip is creamy, decadent, and chocolatey! Perfect for enjoying with friends and family this winter on a snowy day.

What This Recipe Entails

It’s so easy to make hot chocolate dip. All you have to do is let the cream cheese soften first, then mix everything together and serve.

  • Softening time: 30 minutes
  • Prep time: 5 minutes

Hot Chocolate Dip Ingredients

You can make hot chocolate dip with just 3 ingredients:

  • Cream cheese – Make sure to soften it at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  • Marshmallow creme – We recommend using Fluff for the best creamy texture.
  • Hot chocolate mix – Any packet of your favorite hot chocolate will do! We love using Swiss Miss milk chocolate for this recipe.

We love to garnish this dip with mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips so it looks like a mug of hot chocolate! You can also get creative and add toppings like crushed candy canes or sprinkles if you’d like.

How To Make Hot Chocolate Dip

Make hot chocolate dip in just 5 minutes with one bowl and a hand mixer:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and whip with a hand mixer.
  2. Scrape the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula as needed. Continue to mix until it’s smooth and creamy.
  3. Transfer the dip to a serving dish, garnish, and serve!

Storing: You can store hot chocolate dip in the fridge for up to 5 days. Although we can’t promise you won’t eat it all before then 🙂

Serving Suggestions

Hot chocolate dip is best enjoyed with tasty treats for dipping! Here are some suggestions:

  • Graham crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Biscoff cookies
  • Mini chocolate chip cookies

We can also highly recommend enjoying a toasty mug of hot chocolate alongside this dip. It’s the perfect sweet treat after a day spent playing in the snow!

Expert Tips

  • You can make hot chocolate dip ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it (so easy to prep for Christmas parties!)
  • If you forgot to soften the cream cheese at room temp, microwave it for about 10-15 seconds
  • Start mixing on the lowest speed to prevent the hot chocolate mix from spraying up out of the bowl
  • You can use a stand mixer for this recipe, but it will work best with larger batches

Notes

Cream cheese: Make sure to get the cream cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before making this dip. It needs to soften so that it mixes easily.
Garnishes: We like to top this dip with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips to make it look like a mug of hot chocolate. But you can also get creative and use any sweet toppings here, like crushed candy canes or even whipped cream!
Serving suggestions: This dip goes best with graham crackers, but you can also use pretzels, cookies, and other snacks to dip. Check out our blog post above for a detailed list.
