Growing up, my mom always made a strawberry dip from strawberry cream cheese and fluff. And it was amazing. It was a hit at every party, and I remember always craving it. And at the time, I think she was just happy for me to be eating some fruit.

But now, I wanted a way to move away from the fluff. If you don’t know already, here at The Candid Cooks, we specialize in wholesome comfort food – basically we try to minimize processed foods while maximizing natural foods. But we don’t want to leave our favorite recipes in the past… So we make new, wholesome, versions of them. So we can nourish our bodies and our souls. And our favorite memories can live on.

Key Ingredients

Ingredients for making strawberry fruit dip: cream cheese, greek yogurt, strawberry jam, and honey.
  • Greek yogurt – This recipe works best with a thick Greek yogurt, like Fage, so that the dip is as thick and creamy as possible. Because we want all the strawberry flavor coming from the jam, we use plain Greek yogurt, not flavored.
  • Strawberry jam – Strawberry jellies and jams come in a wide variety of quality. For instance, Smucker’s strawberry jelly doesn’t even contain real strawberries! Just strawberry juice and high fructose corn syrup… No thank you. On the other hand our favorite local jam (Sidehill Farm) is made with just strawberries, cane sugar, and lemon juice. So remember to take a look at the ingredients label of jams and jellies. You’ll taste and feel the difference.

Expert Tips

  • Make it ahead of time – Because this dip is best served cold, make it earlier in the day, or even a day ahead of time and store it in the fridge. That way there’s one less thing to worry about when you have guests coming over.
  • Hand mixer speed – I like to always start on the lowest speed to avoid making a mess of the kitchen, but I have found this dip mixes best at medium-low to medium speed.
  • Serving – We love how this dip looks in a little bowl served on a platter surrounded by strawberries. And you can serve the strawberries  with toothpicks as well if you’re making it for a crowd!

  1. Sounds delicious! I’m curious — why the honey? Why not just use a little more strawberry jam if you want more sweetness? It’s hard to imagine there being too much strawberry flavor.

    1. Thank you! We find the honey adds a little depth of flavor (along with some sweetness) that makes the dip taste more interesting. Without it, it tasted very similar to strawberry cream cheese.
